How Wholesale Liquidation Works

The normal path is from manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to customer, but that process can be derailed in several ways. Maybe the customer doesn’t like the item for some reason when they receive it, or it’s the wrong size, or unsuitable. But there is a return option, maybe 30 days, maybe less, so they can send it back for a refund or replacement. But it will cost the manufacturer significant money to receive it, check it over, make any adjustments, and put it back in stock. So, they pass it on to a liquidation warehouse. That’s one scenario.

Alternatively, something might just be a slow seller or has become outdated but still has value and they want to get rid of it because it is just taking up warehouse space.
